2015 Opening Night Preview to Benefit
the Prestigious Paepcke Gallery of the Aspen Institute
ArtAspen, the elegantly staged boutique fair in one of America’s elite zip codes, returns to the Aspen Ice Garden for its 6th annual edition. The August 13 Opening Night Preview is Aspen Peak’s Sneak Peak, and benefits the popular Paepcke Gallery of the internationally acclaimed Aspen Institute. Walter Paepcke was the noted founder of the Aspen Institute and the Aspen Skiing Company in the early 1950’s, which helped transform the town of Aspen into the international resort destination it is today. Each year, the opening evening is a glamorous night that attracts Aspen’s bold faced names – approximately 700 renowned arts patrons, arts philanthropists, museum board members and trustees, serious collectors, museum curators and art luminaries.
Among the Opening Night festivities, Aspen Peak Magazine will also be hosting a welcome reception for 50 private jet owners.
Featuring a Museum Curators Weekend Retreat
Another popular local magazine, Aspen Magazine will host the two day Museum Curators Weekend Retreat which features knowledgeable curators of contemporary art discussing relevant topics. Participants include contemporary art curators from many leading institutions, such as the Akron Art Museum, Knoxville Museum of Art, Bass Museum of Art in Miami, Boca Raton Museum of Art, Speed Museum in Louisville and BYU Museum of Contemporary Art. Topics discussed are lessons learned in curating shows, museum donating and methods for better connecting to the community. Many other museum curators are expected to attend.
